It’s January and the smoothie bandwagon is well and truly rolling. Of course we’re tagging along, and because the internet is a jungle, we’ve hunted down the top 5 smoothie recipes to get you through the January blues.

Madeleine Shaw’s New Year Green Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

300ml of rice milk
1 tsp of honey
25g of spinach
2 tbsp of cashews butter
½ avocado

METHOD

Place everything into your blender and blend until smooth.

Hemsley and Hemsley’s The Love Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

1 small/medium beetroot
3 medium sized blood oranges
1 medium ripe avocado
1tbsp raw honey
Seeds from half a vanilla pod or 1 tsp vanilla extract
250ml filtered water

DIRECTIONS

Scrub the beetroot and slice into quarters or grate if you don’t have a high powered blender. Peel the blood oranges, half crossways and remove any pips. Halve the avocado and scoop out the flesh. Add the beetroots, blood orange flesh, avocado flesh, raw honey, vanilla extract and water to the blender. Pulse a few times and then blend until smooth

Jamie Oliver’s Almond, Banana & Passion Fruit Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

1 large ripe banana
500 ml almond milk
1 teaspoon almond essence , optional
4 ripe passion fruit

DIRECTIONS

Peel the banana and place in a blender with the almond milk and almond essence (if using). Halve the passion fruit, then scrape most of the pulp into the blender and blitz to combine. Serve in tall glasses, over ice if you like, with the remaining passion fruit pulp spooned over the top.

Deliciously Ella’s Banana, Date & Almond Shake

INGREDIENTS

2 large ripe bananas
1 and a 1/2 cups of almond milk (make sure it’s cold)
6 medjool dates
2 teaspoons of almond butter
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Optional: 2 teaspoons of maca for an energy boost

METHOD

Peel the bananas and remove the stones from the dates. Then place all the ingredients in a blender and blend into a creamy deliciousness, this should take 2-3 minutes. Sip, serve and love.

Green Kitchen Stories’s Be Better Beetroot & Strawberry Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

1 handful frozen strawberries
1 raw beetroot, peeled (shredded if you don’t have a high-speed blender)
3 tbsp pomegranate seeds
2 tbsp dried goji berries, optional
2 fresh dates, pitted
2 tbsp chia seeds or flax seeds
1 inch fresh ginger or 1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 pinch ground vanilla or extract
1 cup almond milk or plant milk of your choice

METHOD

Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Add more liquid if it feels too thick.
